Objective
The core objective of the DAAD Short-Term Grants program is the promotion of research projects from the point of view of doctoral programs. To meet the objectives, the fund for this scholarship is provided by the German Federal Foreign Office.
Funding duration
The provision of funding starts from one month to a maximum of six months. For this purpose, the applicant has to indicate the duration of receiving the funding. The decision about the duration of funding will be made during the selection process by the selection committee.
Eligibility
The following eligibility points have to be kept in mind:
- If the candidate has above-average qualifications and
- Pursuing his or her Ph.D.
- Completed his Master degree, Diploma, or Bachelor degree before the beginning of the funding period
- Already has completed one’s Ph.D.
Note:
One thing has to be remembered: this grant is not renewable.
It is to be noted that your time planning has to be completed by March 2025.
What can be funded?
This program intends to provide funding for research projects or courses of continuing education in a state-recognized higher education institute or non-university research institute in Germany.
The monthly payment will be made on the basis of the enrollment of a student in a program. For example, for doctoral students, 1300 euros will be paid on a monthly basis, while for postdoc scholars, 934 euros will be paid on a monthly basis.

Travel allowance:
In situations of any disability or severe illness, subsidy for additional costs may be made if it is not covered by other funding providers. Further information
Selection process:
The applications of the applicants are reviewed by the independent selection committee.
Criteria for selection
- A well-planned and convincing research project
- Achievements in academics
- Other documents related to professional aptitude or co-curricular activities

Requirements of application
Graduates, doctoral candidates, or PhD holders are eligible for this funding. The application required two things. One is to select your country, and the other is to mention your status, such as a Ph.D. or postdoctoral. If you don’t meet the criteria of status or country of origin, you cannot apply for this funding program.
